Philip II of Macedon (382 BC – 336 BC) was a Greek king of the Kingdom of Macedonia from 359 BC. until his assassination by Pausanias in 336 BC
He was the king who made Macedonia a powerful kingdom, united under his rule the other Greek kingdoms and prepared in essence the conquest of Persia and most of the then known world by his son Alexander the Great.
