Description
Ibi in Greek mythology is presented as a (secondary) goddess of youth and vitality. She was the daughter of Zeus and Hera. According to a legend, Hera became pregnant in Ivi, when Apollo had invited her to a meal and she had eaten wild lettuce. Ivi had undertaken to supply the Gods with nectar and ambrosia. Ambrosia was the food that always kept them young. Ganymede took over the office of winemaker of the gods when the goddess married Hercules. Among her activities was the preparation of the chariot of Hera. Ivi married Hercules when the latter ascended Mount Olympus as a demigod. It was the gift of the god Zeus and the goddess Hera (after being reconciled with him) to Hercules, after all these adventures. So Hercules stayed young forever. Together they had two children: Alexiaris and Anikitos. According to Pausanias, there was a ivory statue of Heraion of Argos, a work of Nafkydis near the statue of Hera
